06/09- Kazakhstan -Russia border

After 4,5 hours we just passed the border: the Kazakh part took 3 hours out of which 2 hours nobody did anything, just waiting :-(, than the car needed to be completely emptied :-(
Russia part was more correct and took about 1h30, again the car needed to be unpacked completely :-(. 
Ready to hit the Russia roads now...

05/09 - Astana to Pavlodar

Quick one: Progressively adapting to the continuous freezing wind,  we are in Pavlodar now, ready to head to border with Russia tomorrow.

04/09 - Astana

A relaxing bifid day in Astana: one part spending most of the day in the workshop to fix and reinforce the broken roof rack, the other newly arrived team members were taken on a freezing city tour by Youri.

01 till 03/09 - Tashkent to Astana

Yes, good news: we reached Astana in time !

 

A total of 1800km from Tashkent (250km extra due to the shifted border):

 

- Several stops and  checks by police: "no ruski, only English"

- nice landscapes alternating

- lot of cows, camels, goats, sheep, eagles, …

- big chunk was on dirt road

- in order to reach Astana in time, also a big part was done in the second night, we drove up to 5am in the morning :-)

- a broken roof rack : emptied and temporarily repaired with ropes (Thank you Youri!)

- 230km from 8pm till 5am on very bad road, you can calculate the average yourselves :-((

- had a small nap between the Muezzin's call and the sunrise

- and back on the road again…

 

Just enough time was left to find a hotel, Karcher the cars, have a shower (!), a shave and some more beautification and … than a warm, lovely and emotional family reunion (sniff sniff) .. which eventually completes the Team!

 

A stylish champagne & caviar birthday dinner ended the day, to celebrate Baba's looked for 70^th birthday.

Latest update : crossed the border in little over 2 hours :-)
On the road to Astana to meet the family, 1500km in 2,5 days !!

31/08 - Tashkent - lazy day

Waiting day – Embassy checked but closed – shopping refill (caviar at 3 EUR :-) … we'll let you know how good it was) – petrol refill – cars cleaned up – counted our money remainders ;-(( ---- hanging around – conclusion… not a day we were used to…
