19/8 - IRAN - Arrival in Bandar-e-Abbas

Good day all,

After a quiet hectic start from Abu Dhabi, we reached Sharjah port on Tuesday afternoon around 4pm and after passing immigration we drove the cars to the dock where our dual level, cabin free ferry, the Iran Hormuz was loading. After a small talk to the "Loading Manager", we successfully loaded our cars last at around 8:30pm, to leave the Sharjah at 9:50pm.

After an interesting night on the boat, seat shuffling to "sleep", we arrived at Bandar-e-Abbas Port around 8-ich morning, ready for our first day in Iran. Immigration and Carnet de Passage were quickly done, but we learned how paperwork can slow down processes and in particular to get the cars out of the Port which required 6 stamps and as many signatures. It's only at 2pm that we eventually left the port, thankful to our "Passeur".

Our first impressions from Iranian people were different than what you can read in western newspapers. The people here are very friendly and happy to welcome Belgians to their country.

The road took us then towards Sirjan, and after a first very sweaty camping at 36 degrees we continued to Shiraz.

To be continued..

  1. Good day guys,
For me, through your pictures it’s a journey back. Years back I tracked/drove the same roads. You are doing great. Pictures are fabulous and you all look fine and enjoying. Soon the families will bring you more joy. Drive safely and I wish you a quality time.
