23/8 : Esfahan - Teheran - Caspian Sea

The day of the contrasts !

We had no luck with visiting the Eman Mosque as during Ramadan timings had changed. We therefore left Hotel Melal at 9am direction Tehran. The toll road allowed us to progress well through several interesting sceneries and plateaus along the desert at temperatures around 44 degrees, to arrive in Tehran around 2 o’clock.

In about half a hour we contoured Tehran to head to the Caspian Sea, special thanks to Jean-Hugues for the GPS maps, without which we were probably still be looking for the right exits.

The road from Tehran to Amol took us from 1100m to 2700m to 0m in a distance of around 160km, this was the time of our first snow, our first rain and a temperature drop of 25 degrees, and this all still in Iran!
We set up camp in the rain at the beach of the Caspian Sea.

To be continued…
