21/8 - IRAN - Persepolis to Yazd

IMPRESSIVE !!!

The whole day has been superb, going from one surprise to another.

We had a 3-hour visit to Persepolis where we enjoyed the very well preserved and maintained place of Xerxes and Alexander fortress. Cfr the pictures.

After this, we headed to see the Tombs of Naqsh-E Rostam and Pasargad, the latter being more deceiving.

Early afternoon, we took the road to Yazd where the sceneries were simply impressive and changing, taking us from 1600m in the morning to around 1400m in the evening with amazingly 2 cols at 2420m and 2500m!!! (temperature up there was still around 30degrees). Mountainous areas, plantations, desert were continuously altering so that loads of pictures were shot. This lead us to an interesting car rescue... the key was left in Bart's car with all doors locked ;-(( - Done job after 45 minutes... repair outstanding.

The evening is spend in Yazd at the Silk Road Hotel in the middle of the old town which we visited on a night walk.

To be continued in a couple of days... cheers from the team and thanks to Jan for his active participation during this first week, as he leaves us tonight to return to Belgium.
